A Ghostly Stay

So after all the other mysterious activities we finally come to the most popular and easily identifiable one .......GHOSTS.......

There are many questions associated with ghosts -

So What is a GHOST ???

Does it always deal with possession and physical harm as depicted in popular culture ??

Human's get the crap scared out of them  when they see a ghost  or is it their imagination  ???

Is sometimes living with a ghost in your house beneficial??

Yes...Yes....Yes... Before you absolutely murder me for suggesting it is beneficial to live with a ghost let us first describe what a ghost is !!!

A ghost is the spirit of a human who lingers on even after the after of the physical form ... A ghost can manifest itself in many ways :- 

Apart from the original full body apparition we may have the appearance in the form of shadow figures,mists , lights and so on .. The term ghost is generally used for the full body apparitions ...

So how does a ghost manifest ???

There are various theories but the most universally acclaimed one is that a spirit or an entity in order to manifest itself draws the energy from its surroundings..

Paranormal activists have found the presence of cold spots , sudden lowering of temperature as one of the foremost evidences of paranormal activities . They have also discovered the sudden drainage of batteries of various electronic equipments they were supposedly been carrying ..

Are all ghosts the same ??

For a normal person  conventional wisdom requires that a ghost is a ghost  . 

However in truth there are two basic type of hauntings 

1;- INTELLIGENT:- This is the type of haunting in which the spirit or entity knows the people around it and tries to communicate with them..

2- RESIDUAL;- A residual haunting occurs when a person is so deeply attached to a place or a thing that it does not realize that its dead now .The residual activity is repetitive and the entity does not care about its surroundings . Things like banging of doors or walking through walls where in the past doors had been present are evidences of residual haunting . Residual haunting can be described as living history of the place ..

There is also a third and more dangerous type of haunting which I'll speak of in the coming posts ...

Coming to the first of the post about hauntings . Let me take a place in which we always stay if we go on a trip ..

Yes Yes I'm taking about Haunted hotels .The last thing you would want to experience after a fun day of sightseeing ..

SO let's get on with the list -

1- STANLEY HOTEL, Colorado. 

A hotel which inspires the writer to write a groundbreaking novel along with its subsequent awesome movie ... NO wonder its at the first spot ....The infamous Stanley Hotel the hotel which inspired ( more like compelled)  Stephen King to write the groundbreaking novel The Shining . SO what was these experiences which led King to write this novel:-

Well in his own words 

" I dreamed of my three year old running through the corridors, looking back over his shoulder,eyes wide and  screaming while a fire -hose chased him .I woke up with a tremendous jerk ,sweating all over within an inch of falling out of bed . I got up lit a cigarette , sat in achair and by the time I was done  .  I had the bones of the book set in my mind ..

The Kings were the only two people present it the hotel at that moment but  King is said to walked into a full on paranormal party going on in the ballroom at the time ... Imagine that .

He claims that the party  closely represented to the ones which were prevalent during the 1940's . Well the hotel first opened on 1909 ..

Along with this he claims to have witnessed a women in 19th century attire knocking on his window  while he stood by the bathroom door .

Stephen King is not  the only one who suffered these paranormal activities  .There have been widespread guests who have experienced these activities especially in rooms 217 and 401 .Keep in mind that the Kings stayed in room 217 during their stay at the Stanley . 

Various paranormal activists like Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters have forayed to the Stanley to find reasons for the activity .Their Discoveries have further prove that the Stanley is one of the most haunted hotels in the world.

This is  a video of a voice heard by the ghosthunters team while they were investigating the tunnels beneath the Stanley hotel .. It is one of the many experiences they had at the Stanley hotel making it one of the most haunted places in the world ..

Well, the hotel seems to be doing well despite these activities so I guess the hotel's management might secretly be hoping that these activities continue so as to bring more "rational "people to stay and thereby their own profits or it might be their own doing ..... SEE WHERE I AM GOING 

2:-LE PAVILION HOTEL ,  NEW ORLEANS

"A place where guests can instantly conjure the days of genteel luxury ,romantic evenings and glittery nights "

Too bad the hotel does not warn its guest that they may have a brush with the dead turning the glittery nights to a harrowing one ..

Haunted by atleast 5 different ghosts the most famous one is Adda , a tearful spirit which predates the hotel itself and was killed by a runaway carriage .She is know to have stopped guests while tearfully pleading them to help her before vanishing .

   A grey haired lady has been observed along with a couple holding hands while walking and vanishing before other couples...Love is eternal they say .

The most amusing or frightening depending on your way of thinking is the residential hippie - a young man with no shoe is often seen running through walls and is the culprit of various pranks from objects missing to bed sheets being pulled from under unsuspecting guests.

So who claimed that all ghosts are scary and full of hate .The hippie here is quite a joyful fellow . Any ideas on how he died ... If you do don't forget to comment ;)

3;-FAIRMONT BANIFF SPRINGS HOTELS BANOFF CANADA

Such a beautiful place right !!!

Described as many as a place of paradise this beautiful medieval castle present int he wilderness is quite the dream place for a vacation. So for it to be haunted is not best for business right ?

  The management apparently thinks so and has vociferously denied any paranormal activity taking place .However tragedies in the past have left some spirits within the boundaries of this hotel.

One such sad spirit is that if a bride who was tragically killed in an accident just before walking down the aisle .

Another more helpful spirit is that of an old  bellhop named Sam McAuley who adored the hotel so much that he remained here after his death .He is known to have helped people with their luggage and have been known to diappear before they could tip him.

The guest who meet Sam would be quite pleased despite Sam being a ghost . No problem with luggage and no tip to give ...And then you say all ghosts are dangerous .

As for Sam :-Who would want to leave a place as beautiful as this ? Seriously what would you do if you were in Sam's Place ..... 

4:-QUEEN MARY CALIFORNIA

So converting a premier ocean liner ( a former troopship during WW2)into a hotel and  expecting  things to remain normal is quite improbable right. 

Well the Queen Mary transcends all the former liners in paranormal activity  which have been converted . Dozens of deaths during its time in sea have contributed to a very eerie presence within it. 

The spirit of a little girl is seen in the second class swimming pool area along with an old woman .The girl is believed to have drowned in the pool.

A man is said to have been crushed under  door 13 while closing of the watertight doors. A spirit is said to be seen in the corridor and vanish under the frame of the door.
Along with this Stateroom B340 is not rented out due to paranormal activity undergoing as a result of a murder in the room.

The management has ...eh.... used this paranormal activity to undertake ghost tours which are a hit with the public..Various people during the ghost tour have reported various paranormal activities making it one of the most haunted hotels in the world...

So basically people pay money in order to get scared  ....This thinking is beyond me ...There are enough people alive who can scare you rather than you wanting to be scared by the dead as well...

Earlier on I remarked that having a ghost  might be beneficial .These instances have shown that people have tended to make benefits on the presence of ghosts ..

The ghost tours have tended various profits to these hotels along with occupancy increasing manifold ..

So the idea of ghosts always causing misfortune is not prevalent in  these cases ..

These hotels are located at some of the most beautiful locations that one could as for but the quote

"There is more than what meets the eye " is never more adequate than these cases ..

So this was basically the first of the many on these ghost tours .. The main reason for this is embarking knowledge to people such that one knows the place he stays in rather than being woken up to a harrowing paranormal experience ...
